That long-awaited squadcation is in full swing! In part two of our Shyft Travel Diaries, our squad navigates international payments, shopping abroad and settling tabs with Shyft. Follow along to see how easy Shyft makes it to live lush while travelling!
Shyft how you pay - Darren's story
Let’s face it, I’m no spring chicken. The squad’s outing to ICE Club in Rome had me up till 3 am trying to prove my stamina. Big mistake! I woke up at noon and realised they’d left to see the Colosseum while I lazed in my hotel room, eating Hein’s leftover ziti and regretting everything. Some friends, eh?
I then hurried to catch up with them so I could at least feature in one of Lihle’s selfies. Only to forget my wallet at the hotel. Che sfortuna!
Luckily, Shyft came in handy once again – allowing me to link my Shyft cards to Apple Pay, I could tap my way through the day, effortlessly paying for everything from souvenirs to snacks. Even my phone’s dying battery couldn’t stop what turned into a great day out. Hein (the human calculator) tracked all my expenses, and with free Shyft-to-Shyft payments, I repaid him quicker than this aspirin is taking to do its job!
Global shopping made easy – Lihle’s story
Simone warned me for weeks before our squadcation: “Don’t tell people about your travel plans. Especially family.” Did I listen?
My bags weren’t even unpacked before receiving a text from Mamma Mia: a monster shopping list of everything my relatives would like me to bring back from Italy. uMakhulu doesn’t even eat red meat anymore, yet she’s requesting Coppa Di Parma. Yoh, make it make sense!
Shoutout to poor Darren, still under the weather after last night’s clubbing shenanigans. He had the genius idea of telling my family to download Shyft so they could order online, pay with a virtual Shyft card, and have everything delivered straight to our Airbnb.
Thankfully, Shyft’s updated interface is so easy to use that anyone can navigate it effortlessly. I wouldn’t be surprised if uMakhulu shares the app with her stokvel and starts planning more getaways than me!
Zero to euro, just like that – Hein’s story
Rome has felt like a dream these past few days, but nothing — and I mean nothing — beats the excitement of an imminent payday. And the cherry on top of this tiramisu? My client is paying me in euros!
Naturally, Darren jumped at the chance to suggest I cover the squad’s next round of drinks (as if he hasn’t had enough already). Simone pointed out that instead of converting the euros when I’m back in SA, I should just spend them here in Italy. That way, the travel budget I set aside can be saved for future expenses (or further investments).
All I had to do was ask my client to deposit the funds directly into my Shyft wallet, and voilà — mid-trip cash boost!
The adventures don’t stop here!
