Si parte per l'Italia! The Shyft squad is ready to take off on their epic Eurotrip. Luckily, Darren, Lihle, Hein, Simone, and Meghan have Shyft by their side, packed with features that make travel and shopping abroad a breeze. Forget stressing about money matters. Shyft lets them focus on the good stuff: indulging in Italian cooking classes, soaking up the sights, and devouring gelato.

Meet the Shyft Eurotrip squad

Darren
Forex forever – Darren’s story

So, I know I sometimes get a bit “finance-y”, but hear me out on this one. A while back I stumbled upon this app called Shyft and realised it’s a game-changer for investors like myself. Normally, my forex is chilling in Shyft, keeping my portfolio on steady gains. But with this upcoming trip, I realised how easy it is to switch gears and use Shyft for and during travel, too.

Here’s the best bit: you can buy euros (among other currencies) 24/7 at the CHEAPEST rates in South Africa. Plus, you can store that forex in the app indefinitely. No more scrambling to the bank last minute, or dealing with ridiculous rates at the airport.

Gave the squad the Shyft lowdown in preparation for our trip and they’re sold. Everyone downloaded the updated app free of charge and bought their euros while the rand was strong.

Now if they could only take my advice about tennis over padel…

Simone
Split bills, not friendships – Simone’s story

When it comes to group dinners, the squad knows my foodie game is unmatched (looking at you, dry-breyani Darren).

In the run-up to our Eurotrip, I booked an epic Italian cooking class in Rome that I saw on social media. Waiting for my friends to figure out forex and international payments is like pulling teeth, so I volunteered to pay upfront in euros using my Shyft virtual card. Finita! No need to carry around cash in an unknown city – everything’s done swiftly (and safely) from my Shyft app.

My favourite part? The squad can easily pay me back using FREE Shyft-to-Shyft transfers. This is going to be a lifesaver (i.e. friendship-saver) when it comes to splitting restaurant bills and any other group expenses, specifically Lihle’s spontaneous spa dates.

Lihle
Shyft delivers in a pinch – Lihle’s story

Confession time: I completely forgot to order my Shyft physical forex card before we booked our flights. Bawo ndincede! Imagine, me cashless in Europe while the rest of my squad galavants around tapping for every souvenir, gelato crawl, or can’t-get-them-anywhere-else pair of sneakers…soze. Not today. If only I had an iPhone… I could link my Shyft card to Apple Pay and wouldn’t need a physical card at all!

Simone, ever the lifesaver, explained that Shyft can deliver physical cards straight to my door in less than 72 hours. Talk about speed. Plus, she said I don’t even need to bank with Standard Bank to use Shyft. Like, I don’t even need to step foot in a branch to get started. Dream come true!

Interface

Now that I’ve got the physical card, all I need to do is link it to my Shyft account in the app, top up my card with my desired currency and bam! International shopping sorted, thanks to Shyft (and Simone!).

P.S. I wonder if the updated app has a function to help me locate my passport…
